Ron Weasley remains entirely JK Rowling's posession. I'm just playing with him.
Ron Weasley remains entirely JK Rowling's posession. I'm just playing with him.
| The Basics |
Character Name: Ronald Bilius Weasley PB: Jamie Bell Age: 20 Birthday: 1st March, 1980 Wand: 14” willow containing one unicorn tail hair House in School: Gryffindor Bloodline: Pureblood Political View: Ron has always been in complete support of the Order, Dumbledore and Harry, and having a fit of the grumps every now and again has never changed that. |
| Appearance |
Height: 6'3" Weight: 180lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: Red Build: Tall and lanky. He isn’t skinny but he’s never managed to put on enough weight to fill out his frame properly. Dress Style: Having grown up in a succession of badly-fitting hand-me-downs, Ron’s never really developed a taste in clothes. He always chooses comfort over style and tends to prefer jeans and a t-shirt, with well-worn-in robes for warmth. Defining Marks: Ron has twisted lines of scars along his arms and at the top of his stomach, where the brain latched onto him in the Department of Mysteries. He has no other visible scars (though he suffered other injuries during fighting) due to the beauty of magical healing. His freckles are one of the most noticeable things about him – he has a generous spattering across his face as well as those on his arms and shoulders. |
| Personality |
Strengths: Ron is intensely loyal and a very good friend. As per his House specifications, Ron is also very courageous and a good man to have in a fight. His love of, and gift for, chess means Ron also has an understanding of strategy and logical thinking, something perhaps unexpected when confronted with his loud, brash and blustering exterior. He has a good, if sarcastic, sense of humour and can laugh at himself… eventually. Weaknesses: Ron can be jealous, especially with something, or someone, he cares about. Significant others beware. When he was younger he also had a tendency towards envy, but as he has matured he has come to see the truth in the phrase, “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence,” though that isn’t to say he is completely immune to such emotions. His courage is a weakness as well as a strength because it pushes him into carelessness. He acts first and considers later, especially when he’s worked up and this could feasibly lead him into dangerous situations, without somebody more measured to balance him out. Quirks: He’s a great fan of witty one-liners and it’s a skill he has that surprises a lot of people. He’s completely out of practice seeing himself as an individual rather than one of a trio, or one a pair, or one of a family, and so he doesn’t like being on his own. He tends to aspire towards goals that seem to be unachievable, and he can get low-spirited when he doesn’t manage to reach them. General Outlook: Ron tends to be fairly laid back. He doesn’t have a “hero complex” such as one might say of Harry, and he’d really rather everyone lived and let live. Which isn’t to say that he hasn’t spent much of his adolescence fighting and that he wouldn’t do it again – more that he just wishes utter berks didn’t make it to positions of extreme power. Ron would very much like to be able to have a normal life, now that the war is over. He wants to settle down and figure out what he wants to do with his life –and fingers crossed, get to do it. He wants to get married and have children and watch his remaining siblings grow old and he wants to do it all with a broad smile across his face. |
| Psychology |
Extrovert/Introvert:Ron is mostly extroverted, simply because he is incapable of hiding emotion. To anyone who knows him, he’s an open book which infuriates him since he often has such trouble understanding other people, especially girls. Boggart Would Be: Ron’s Boggart is an enormous spider. Superficially, Ron has always been afraid of spiders and especially after the acromantulas tried to eat him during his second year his fear of them is understandable. His Boggart continues to be a spider even after all of the risks Ron has encountered over the years, probably because if he remains convinced that his greatest fear is still an enormous spider, he can face much greater dangers more calmly. Patronus Would Be:Ron learnt to produce a Patronus at the DA classes Harry led in their fifth year. His Patronus is a Jack Russell terrier, which irritated Ron a bit at first. Harry got a stag, and he got a piddly little terrier? What good was a terrier? After it had saved his life a couple of times though, he got fonder of it. He supposes that, if your Patronus does reflect something about yourself, he could do worse than be intensely loyal and tenacious. And anyway, it’s better than an otter. |
| Sexuality |
Ron is unequivocally heterosexual. He has always known that he is straight and for the vast proportion of his life has been insanely in love with one girl in particular. The fact that girl is Hermione and that they seem to have bickered ever since they met, appears to suggest some masochistic undertones to his sexuality, though in reality Ron rarely wants something he doesn’t have to fight for. He doesn’t see the point otherwise. Ron has grown up in a happy family, with happily married parents, and that is what he wants for himself. |
| Lifestyle |
Occupation:At the moment Ron is working at the twins’ shop. He really views this as nothing more than a stop-gap, but a stop-gap to what, he couldn’t say. He certainly doesn’t want to be working there in five years’ time though. Residence: The Phoenix Financial Status: Not great, but Ron is used to having so little money that even the bit he does have at the moment seems like riches. |
| Family |
Parents: Molly and Arthur Weasley. Ron tends to feel a bit mollycoddled by his mum and chafes against her worrying. Then again, he has been getting himself into very dangerous situations consistently since he was eleven, so in a way he can understand her worrying, especially since Percy. Doesn’t mean he has to like it though. Siblings: Ron is the youngest of five brothers, with one missing, presumed dead, and has one younger sister. The Weasley family has always been very close, if a little tempestuous. In spite of finding his mother’s behaviour towards him oppressive, Ron can act similarly towards his sister, Ginny, particularly where her love-life is concerned, and doesn’t see this as at all hypocritical. Rather, it’s his fraternal right. Ron has always looked up to Charlie and Bill and he hasn’t grown out of this, although his actions in the war have made him feel somewhat closer to being on a level with them. As far as Fred and George are concerned, Ron grew up adoring their sense of fun but hating it when it backfired upon him – his pride has taken too many knocks for him to feel entirely comfortable with them. Currently, working for them and having fought alongside them, he feels more so than ever before, but he believes only the most foolhardy relax totally in their presence. Ron tends to avoid thinking about Percy, if he can help it. It isn’t that he didn’t love his brother, or that he wants to wipe his memory out of his mind- he just doesn’t want to think about it. The Weasleys have always been a close-knit family. Percy’s loss feels as though someone took a pair of scissors to the heart of the fabric. He doesn’t like to think about it because every time he does, all he can think of is calling Percy a prat and laughing at him and hoping not to turn out like him. True, Percy wasn’t the straightest arrow of the bunch and he died unreconciled to his family but he turned away from them because of what he believed in. The older Ron gets, the more he feels he understands about Percy and the more he regrets that Percy is dead and can never know it. |
| History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time |
When Harry said he was leaving school to search for the Horcruxes, Ron didn’t hesitate. His place had always been next to Harry, shoulder to shoulder and that had never changed. Really, he would have preferred it if Hermione had stayed at the Burrow, away from the danger, but he never voiced that opinion and he knew it wasn’t an option. Plus he knew they needed her, if they were ever going to succeed. Trecking around the country together in search of Horcruxes also put of any idea he might have had of finally coming clean with Hermione out of his head. At Dumbledore’s funeral, with his hand in her hair and her arms around his waist, it had seemed as though they were teetering on the edge of… something. But the war pulled them back, and kept pulling, and he still hasn’t told her. Probably the most difficult thing Ron’s ever had to do is let Harry go down into the Chamber of Secrets alone. Maybe it was comparable to Hermione letting him go through to face Voldemort alone in their first year, but Ron was unconscious so he couldn’t possibly say. All he knows is, watching Harry disappear into Hogwarts with a hard look on his face, Ron held his breath and spent the worst few hours of his life half-convinced that he’d never see his best friend again. As awful as it sounds, it would have been worse than when Percy died. And when Harry did emerge, he wasn’t really Harry anymore. Ron knew his best friend was still in there of course, but this new version of Harry was scarred almost beyond recognition. Ron was used to the nightmares, but the new ones were much worse. When he was awake, Harry seemed withdrawn; depressed. He was over-emotional and he took his anger out on anyone who would go near him. Of course, Ron was always around and he took a good deal of it. It was part of the deal. Half the time, if he’d allowed himself to think about life after the war, Ron probably wouldn’t have believed it was possible. Optimistic as he tends to be, the odds were always stacked against them. It may have been the best part of a year since the war ended, but Ron’s still stuck in a limbo, treading water until he finds his footing once more. Peace-time living takes some getting used to and he’s been on edge for far too long. |
